“Matud Nila” (They Say) is a popular romantic Visayan song originally sung by Ben Zubiri and later popularized by Pilita Corales in the 1950s. Matud Nila is also the title of a movie produced in 1991 that portrays the life of a poor woman who allowed herself to be charged in court for the murder of a man who attempted to rape a rich girl. In the movie, the rich girl is the poor woman’s daughter whom she had given up for adoption. The girl later realized her true parentage.
