Chua Jes Sie

Chua Jes Sie, received her BA (Hons) in Music from the University of Sunderland in the UK, majoring in Piano performance and Violin as her second study. 

In 2017, Jes Sie completed her Diploma in Music from the Malaysian Institute of Art, where she was also awarded as the Best Student in the year 2017. She was the President of the Malaysian Institute of Art Ladies Chorus from the year 2016 to 2017 where she successfully led the members to the 5th Vietnam International Choir Competition in June 2017, where they were the Category Winner (Gold). Apart from that, she was also the 2nd Violin leader and pianist of the Malaysian Institute of Art Chamber Orchestra.

During Jes Sie’s studies in the UK, she worked as the choir conductor and instructor of the North East of England Chinese Student’s Association Choir and also taught piano, violin, choir and early childhood music at Seaview Primary School. Jes Sie sang as a member of the nationally acclaimed Chorus of the Royal Northern Sinfonia in Newcastle and also won a seat as a member of Second Violin section in the Sunderland Symphony Orchestra. In Feb 2018, she worked as band manager and keyboardist of the University of Sunderland’s musical theatre production - “The Wiz”.

Jes Sie’s has participated in several choral arranging classes under the tutelage of Dr Zechariah Goh in 2019. At present, she is a private piano & violin instructor, a part-time music teacher at Chung Hua Independent High School and also the Assistant Conductor of the Malaysian Institute of Art Mixed Voice (SATB) Choir.
