盤答 [Song of Riddles] (SSA)
In the past, to ease boredom, some Chinese children would play a game called pan shi, where one of a pair would ask a question, and the other would answer. Players take turns asking questions until one loses by not knowing the answer or answering incorrectly. The structure of the text gives the person asking and the person answering a form of attentive relationship. The common theme allows children to associate objects with their attributes quickly, which is a vital skill for memory and development in the future. The arranger envisions children running around, singing these tunes. The writing is deliberately made simple for young choristers to facilitate memorising, and also to represent the idea of a carefree youth.
