Aldo Joson
Philippines
Similar to most Filipino choristers, Aldo's choral journey began in school and in church where he was part of the church-based OLA Male Chorale (OMC) in his hometown of Marikina City, Philippines. His choral experience includes singing for choirs under Dr Joel Navarro, Dr Eudenice Palaruan, Dr Joseph David Legaspi, Mr Kiko Dimalanta, Mr Eric Robert Santos, Mr Danny Imson, and Ms Jennifer Tham. While he began composing during his high school senior year and university days, it was only later in life when he took formal composition, harmony, and arrangement lessons under Dr Zechariah Goh in Singapore and Philippine National Artist for Music Mr Ryan Cayabyab.
Aldo's works have been sung by various groups in the region including the Ateneo Chamber Singers, Koro Ilustrado, the Philippine Madrigal Singers, and UP Manila Chorale from the Philippines; The Graduate Singers, SYC Ensemble Singers, Victoria Chorale, and Victoria Junior College Choir from Singapore; as well as the Infinito Singers from Indonesia. His church compositions have been recorded under the Jesuit Music Ministry label of Jesuit Communications, Ateneo de Manila University.
He is currently based in Sumatra, Indonesia where he works as the deputy head for sustainability operations for a global pulp & paper company.
