Around the time of World War II, a certain practice called Ramwong emerged. In order to help people to forget their penury, the Prime Minister of Thailand, encouraged Thai women and men to enjoy themselves by dancing Ramwong. It is usually performed in pairs and in a circular formation. These dances were usually accompanied by a certain type of song, called Ramwong song.
