To Manglaa [The Call to Play] (SA)

This is a folksong from Toraja, South Celebes and it tells a story about some playful young shepherds. In the beginning, the solo soprano represents a child who calls their friends to join them together at the field. While waiting for their livestock to feed on the grass, they play a local game that is played with the feet called Sisemba. There are two separate groups in this game. Fighters from each group must join their hands together at all times, both during attack and defence. The game ends when the sun starts setting, and the children goes back to their respective homes.
