The beloved Hiligaynon folk song from Iloilo, Philippines, comes alive in this haunting and dramatic arrangement. Traditionally sung as both a love song and a lullaby, it tells of a woman bidding farewell to her beloved as he returns to Payao province.

This setting heightens the drama with syncopated rhythms, chromatic colour, and moments of poignant dissonance. A striking modulation to the dominant drives the piece to its climax, where a plaintive countermelody intertwines with a pulsing hemiola ostinato.
