Surge Illuminare Jerusalem (SSAA)
$5.00
A work about hope, renewal, darkness, and the return of light, this piece takes the listener through a musical journey from despair towards dawn. This piece presents treble choirs with challenging rhythmic, melodic, and harmonic writing, while the use of aleatory passages gives performers space to contribute their own creativity and interpretation.
Language also becomes part of the musical experience. The text can be adapted into the vernacular language of the country in which the work is performed, inviting audiences to connect more directly with its message and allowing the music to take on a distinctly local voice.
