Dragon Dance (SATB)

$5.00

Dragon Dance (舞龙), composed by Singaporean composer Leong Yoon Pin in 1988 for the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation Choir, is a vibrant choral work that transforms voices into a percussive ensemble. Drawing on the festive energy of the traditional Chinese dragon dance, Leong uses playful nonsense syllables like qiang (锵), dong (咚), and tectoc to mimic drums and cymbals, recreating the soundscape of Chinese percussion - no knowledge of Chinese required! The result is a dazzling, rhythmically charged piece that captures the movement, colour, and exhilaration of the dragon dance.
